CheckoutDo you know exactly why your lips flake off?
Smooth, rosy, slightly swollen and appetizing lips ... Every woman dreams of this. Seductive and healthy lips, like a magnet, attract men's looks. Of course, it is very attractive and sexy. But what if the lips are peeling? How can you help yourself?
Lips can flake off not only in winter. Hygienic lipsticks do not help everyone: the causes of peeling are different, from the effects of weather and bad habits to serious diseases. You can completely get rid of the problem only by finding out "where did that come from." Now we will talk about the main reasons why lips peel off and what to do about it. Here are the most effective folk recipes for homemade masks for the health and beauty of lips.
Why lips peel off
Let's first take a look at the main reasons why lips peel off.
The lips are chapped: many people make this conclusion, and the treatment comes down to balms, masks (at best) and lipsticks. Indeed, this reason is common, but such peeling has its own symptoms. It all starts gradually: first, the lips tighten, then dryness appears, the skin cracks when stretched - it is difficult to smile, eat and speak, and after a couple of days the lips become covered with "husks" - sometimes the skin literally "hangs in clumps". If you take it carelessly, the problem can turn from a cosmetic into a complex one: for example, dirt or an infection gets into the cracks on the lips - weeks or even months of persistent treatment are provided.
What to do if lips are chapped and flaky in winter? Humidification is necessary, but you can't go outside after it for about an hour. You need to apply a fat cream on the lips: then the wind and frost will not be terrible.
Any masks are useful: with honey, wax, oils, cottage cheese, heavy cream and sour cream. And it is better to finish the procedure with olive oil, although any vegetable oil will do: cleansing, nourishing, moisturizing and protecting. Subsequently, do not forget about hygienic lipsticks and balms - choose high-quality protective cosmetics, and make masks for prevention, 1-2 times a week. Don't lick your lips, bite, eat or drink outside.
Why else can lips peel off? The reaction to stimuli is often manifested by peeling: acid gets on the lips (citrus juice, hot spices, etc.). "In the load" often there are seizures - cracks that do not heal for a long time in the corners of the mouth. Remove irritants and allergies from your diet, check your toothpaste, and lubricate your lips with synthomycin ointment if necessary.
Peeling accompanied by rashes along the contour of the lips? There may be a lack of vitamins and minerals, although this can explain the problem in most cases. It is wiser here to see a doctor, but nutrition must be improved in any case. If your lips are flaky, add more fresh vegetables, fruits and berries to your diet, fresh eggs and butter, cottage cheese and other "milk", sea fish and organ meats, whole grains and legumes, nuts and vegetable oils. Fatty meat will do little good - choose turkey, chicken and rabbit meat, which are rich in easily digestible complete protein.
It is not difficult to "identify" the scaling caused by herpes. The lips did not seem to dry out, and the skin did not tighten, and then suddenly a burning sensation began, local inflammation and small vesicles appeared. At the same time, the skin may peel off, but masks and balms do not help: herpes is caused by a virus - a specialist consultation is necessary.
If the tendency to herpes sores is a long-standing problem, use "your" medicines based on acyclovir and other antiviral substances. But, even if you have been prescribed drugs before, it is dangerous to self-medicate - it is better to see a doctor again.

Lips dry, peel off, the contour of the mouth is inflamed - perhaps the cause of this problem is an allergy to cosmetics. Check all your funds: expiration date, manufacturer; remember what you have used more often lately. However, the cause can also be diseases - dental and even nervous, lack of vitamins and bad habits. And here the help of an endocrinologist, allergist, dentist is often required, but you can start with a dermatologist: the treatment of cheilitis, as this ailment is called, is carried out in different ways. From folk remedies, to speed up recovery, you can connect compresses with sage, St. John's wort and calendula, aloe juice with vegetable oil, etc.
Are your lips swollen and flaky? These are symptoms of a slight UV burn: this happens not only in summer. In winter, the bright sun affects the lips in the same way, and even in combination with wind and frost. Use creams with UV filters any season if you have to be outdoors or indoors in direct sunlight for a long time.
If dryness and frequent peeling are combined with pallor of the skin - the lips "fade", this can also be explained by various reasons: age-related changes, smoking, lung, heart, kidney or liver diseases. It is necessary to undergo a comprehensive examination. If the skin is aging and fading, a beautician will help; but one must get rid of bad habits, and treat internal diseases without fail. Timely moisturizing and gentle massage with a toothbrush will also help: blood circulation will improve, and dead skin will exfoliate.
What to do
The first thing that comes to mind is folk remedies. Of course, if your lips flake off, you should definitely make effective balms and masks based on proven natural recipes. We will present the most effective formulations for treating lips if they are peeling.
Homemade lip masks always help: both with ordinary chapping and in the complex treatment of various diseases.

If your lips are peeling, then take sour cream (1 tsp), mix with olive oil (1/2 tsp), add lemon juice (if there are no cracks, 3-4 drops). Apply the mixture on and around moisturized lips. Keep it for half an hour, wash with warm water and apply balm. The latter can be made at home - for example, based on honey (2-3 tsp) and wax (1 tsp), with almond oil (1-2 tsp) and mint essential oil (3-4 drops ). The wax is melted in a water bath, mixed with honey and almond oil, the mass is cooled, essential oil is added, mixed, poured into a small jar, stored in the refrigerator.
In general, honey treatment is the simplest and most effective if the lips are peeling. You can do without the preparation of masks: it is enough to lubricate the lips with natural honey 1-2 times a day, keep for half an hour, rinse with warm water and apply a fat cream (even "Children's") or oil.
Oil masks, which work well with peeling lips, are also great with wax. Melted wax (5 g) is mixed with the same amount of cocoa butter (olive, castor, etc.), 5 g of petroleum jelly and a decoction of chamomile (1 tablespoon) are added. It is better to beat the mixture until smooth, until it cools completely.
You do not need to wash off such masks: apply at night, on cleansed and moisturized lips, and, if necessary, during the day. Oil mixtures help quickly: cracks heal, peeling stops.
Effectively wheat germ oil, rosehip, sea buckthorn, grape seed oil; it is good to add pharmacy vitamins A and E, in capsules - dryness will disappear for a long time. In the off-season and winter, make oil masks for prevention, without waiting for the lips to dry, peel and crack.
If the lips are heavily flaky, a honey mask with pork fat helps. Not everyone decides to use it, but this mixture has pronounced nourishing and regenerating properties. You only need 1/2 tbsp. fat (melt in a water bath), mix with honey (1 tablespoon). Keep in the refrigerator in a glass jar.
