Sodium Lactate Description
Sodium lactate, lactic acid sodium salt. It is a great moisturizer that provides significant moisture retention as well as a skin-brightening effect. Sodium Lactate is naturally derived from plant materials such as beets and corn.
The hygroscopicity of sodium lactate is clearly higher than that of glycerin or urea, its moisturizing and hydrating effect has been known and recognized since 1972
Sodium lactate (sodium lactic acid, E-325) is the sodium salt of lactic acid. It is used in the food and cosmetic industry as an acidity regulator, humectant, emulsifying salt, antioxidant synergist. Especially effective is the use of sodium lactate in the production of creams, masks, balms and other cosmetic products in order to increase moisture, stabilize the emulsion, adjust pH and improve organoleptic properties. It also significantly enhances the effect of antioxidants and is excellent as an antibacterial agent. Sodium lactate is also used in the cosmetic industry for the manufacture of liquid soaps and shampoos to moisturize and improve foaming, and in the preparation of solid (tiled) shampoos, this component also works as a hardener.
Application in cosmetics
- creams, lotions, face and body care products with a moisturizing effect;
- cleansers for face, body and hair;
- brightening
- soap, shampoos, balms, hair masks;
- as a pH corrector;
- as a thickener for solid shampoos;
- emulsion stabilizer;
- baby cosmetics
Sodium lactate has high moisturizing properties.
It improves the barrier properties of the stratum corneum of the epidermis and prevents skin irritation. Together with lactic acid, sodium lactate in skin care products has two functions & # 8212; moisturizes the skin and, forming a weakly acidic environment, inhibits the development of pathogenic microorganisms on the skin, respectively - eliminates inflammation, rash, itching. In the composition of cosmetic and hygiene products, it is a skin-whitening component that helps to preserve the natural moisture of the skin. In cosmetics it is used as an independent additive, or in combination with lactic acid. Especially suitable for dry, dehydrated and aging skin.
Properties
- is the most powerful moisturizer;
- restores the damaged lipid layer of the skin;
- has an antibacterial effect, being an antiseptic, improves the safety of cosmetics;
- creates a breathable film on the skin that retains moisture in it and protects it from the negative effects of the environment (wind, cold, temperature changes).
An excellent antiseptic. Strong anti-microbial action helps to facilitate storage of creams and lotions. Provides a smooth and soft feel upon application. Can be used to improve glide and feel when applied in oil-free water systems. Great moisturizer. Significantly increases the moisture content of the upper layers of the skin, even when used in washable products. Keratolytic and exfoliating action. Reduces potential irritation and increases the effectiveness of alpha and beta hydroxy acids. Used as a water binder and a buffering agent (to adjust the pH level) in detergents.
