How Essential Oil Baths Improve Health and Lift Mood

Every day a woman has to overcome many difficulties, redo a huge range of cases. And often in the evening we can no longer stop, we keep running and running somewhere, but we no longer have the strength, even to just stand. Our health suffers from such a rhythm of life - sleep worsens, there is a constant exhausting feeling of fatigue, apathy and a bad mood. There are also many physical ailments that only significantly worsen the situation and there is no end to this.

How to avoid all these unpleasant phenomena? Is it really possible? Very simple. Stop, stop constantly rushing somewhere and, finally, devote a little time to yourself. One of the easiest and most affordable ways to quickly improve your well-being and even improve your health at home is aromatic baths with essential oils. You do not need to prepare anything in advance, you do not need to spend a lot of time and money on the procedure. And the effect of such baths will surpass all your expectations. After all, they help not only to calm down, but also have a cosmetic and even healing effect.

Aromatic baths have been used since ancient times - not so much for relaxation as for treatment. After all, our ancestors knew as well as we do what healing power is hidden in herbs, infusions and essential oils. It is known that in ancient Greece, women from wealthy houses added rose oil to their baths to make their skin smooth and velvety. And Cleopatra took such baths every day and her beauty is legendary to this day.

What are the benefits of essential oils

In the course of research, modern cosmetology has confirmed the fidelity of folk recipes. After all, essential oils have an anti-inflammatory effect, strengthen the immune system, tone up, rejuvenate and cleanse the skin, help in the fight against excess weight and cellulite, and have powerful healing properties.

All this is very beneficial for our health. Considering that all diseases are caused by nerves, then the calming properties of baths with essential oils on the mental level can save us from many diseases and increase the duration of our life.

Different essential oils have different effects on the human body. And therefore, for home baths, you should choose the oil that will best cope with a particular problem in a particular situation.

How to take a bath properly

To get the most out of essential oil baths, you need to know how to use them correctly. Let's talk about everything in order:

  • The first thing to say is that you don't need to use too much essential oil for the aroma bath. Overdose can lead to skin irritation, allergies, headaches, and other serious health problems. Essential oil is a highly concentrated product; only 3-4 drops of oil are enough for a large bath.
  • It makes no sense to add essential oils directly to the bath, because they do not dissolve in water. If pure essential oil comes into contact with the skin, even burns are possible, not to mention inflammation and irritation. Such a bath can be very harmful. Therefore, you first need to add essential oil to any base and mix thoroughly. You can take milk as a basis, just one glass is enough. Honey, cream, kefir and sour cream are also perfect, they need no more than 3 tablespoons. Alternatively, you can dissolve the essential oil in a base oil such as almond oil. Then the basics need to be taken about 10-15 ml. Sometimes the essential oil is diluted with sea salt - this is a great bath recipe for beautiful and youthful skin. The effectiveness of such a bath will be much higher, because the salt itself is useful. Special emphasis should be placed on the fact that sea salt vapors do an excellent job with colds and viral diseases of the pulmonary tract, so baths with essential oils and sea salt are an excellent home remedy for the prevention of seasonal exacerbations. To do this, take about 4 tablespoons of salt, put it in a linen bag (you can simply wrap it in gauze) and add essential oil there. The bag needs to be shaken a little and then lowered into the water.

  • It is important to observe the temperature of the water during this procedure. For baths with essential oils, you must not use too hot water, its temperature should not exceed 38 ° C. Otherwise, the process of perspiration in the body will intensify, which will prevent beneficial substances from actively penetrating the pores of the body. A good way to check if the water is too hot is to look in the mirror. If it fogs up, then you need to dilute the bath with cold water.
  • During the procedure, do not use other cosmetic products - gels, shampoos, soaps, etc. The substances that make up these products reduce the result of the procedure.
  • It's also important to plan ahead for an essential oil bath. You can not eat densely later than 1.5-2 hours before the procedure. The procedure itself should last at least 10 and no more than 20 minutes. Taking a longer home bath can have the opposite effect. Baths with essential oils should be taken regularly, but not daily. It is best to take a break of 1-2 days.
  • Do not wipe dry after the procedure. After taking a bath, essential oils will be absorbed into the skin for some time and have a healing effect. It is best to wait until the body dries on its own or put on a warm robe right after the bath. Also, it is not necessary to develop active and physical activity immediately after such a procedure. It is important to let the body relax and rebuild on a "dry" wave. To do this, you can lie down, drink herbal tea and read your favorite book a little.

There are contraindications

Despite the small dose of essential oil in home baths, it has a pronounced and strong therapeutic effect. Therefore, in order not to cause serious harm to your health, you should be careful about such procedures for people with certain diseases (I hope you all well know about the characteristics of your body?).

Such diseases include oncology, angina pectoris, epilepsy, diabetes, cirrhosis of the liver, ischemic heart disease, thrombophlebitis, chronic hepatitis, glomerulonephritis, dermatitis, acute inflammatory processes and "weeping" mycoses. Pregnant women should also be careful about using essential oils and baths in general. This is especially true for jasmine, mint, geranium and juniper oils. They have a rather strong effect on the human body. In order not to be mistaken with the choice of oil, you can contact an aromatherapist.

What essential oils should I buy for baths?

Pay special attention to not buying synthetic essential oils for home baths. They are almost indistinguishable from natural ones. But the oil in a dark bottle and at a rather high cost is likely to be natural. If in a store or pharmacy all oils have about the same price, then these oils are of a synthetic nature, they are not very effective as a remedy, but it is very easy to "run into" health problems with such oils. In general, the essential oil itself is quite difficult and is extracted in small quantities, so it cannot be cheap by its nature. In search of a remedy for health and longevity, do not go after cheap means, focus on quality and beneficial properties!

The best home bath recipes

Well, now, as promised, I will give you some useful recipes for home baths with essential oils.

As I said earlier, home baths with essential oils can be used to achieve a cosmetic or relaxing effect, to invigorate, and even for medicinal purposes. I will now tell you some home bath recipes for different occasions. Interesting? Then read on :-)

In case of fatigue and irritation, add 3-4 drops of lavender oil to the bath. It will help restore strength, calm down, and improve sleep. Also, in case of stress and strong tension, you can use sandalwood, geranium, incense and rose oil. It is enough to take these oils in the amount of 2-3 drops.

In addition to nervous tension, you can often find muscle tension. This often happens to athletes or just people who work hard physically or work out in the gym. To help your body relax, take a bath with a mixture of oils, cinnamon and lemon balm, ginger and verbena, or juniper and mint. Each of the two oils should be taken in the amount of 1-2 drops. If, on the contrary, you need to cheer up (for example, in the morning or after some monotonous mental activity), fill the body with energy and give yourself strength, then citrus essential oils will come to the rescue (which, by the way, perfectly fight cellulite and sagging aging skin) ... It is also important not to exceed the dose, 3-4 drops of any citrus oil per bath will be enough. Rosemary, verbena and sage essential oils will also help to tone up.

When it's cold outside, it is very important to warm up in time so as not to get sick. Thyme, lemon or pine essential oils are perfect for this.

For muscle and joint aches, cedar nut oil can be used. It helps to relieve pain quickly.

And if you want to cheer yourself up a bit and recharge with positive emotions, you can try adding ylang-ylang or sandalwood oil to your bath. I wonder who doesn't want this?

Many essential oils are known to be aphrodisiacs. And what will make a woman more sensual, if not an aromatic bath? Patchouli, ylang-ylang, or neroli oils work very well for this purpose. Such a bath will not only help you tune in the right mood, but will also give your skin a pleasant aroma.
