How not to dry out your skin with a daily shower

The hygienic recommendations of doctors are unambiguous: in order to maintain optimal cleanliness of the body, you should take a shower or a bath every day, and in general it is not forbidden to do this and more often - if necessary, for example, after fitness. On the other hand, every shower is a potential coin for dry skin, especially if you actively use gels, soaps and other detergents. How to sit on two chairs, maintaining perfect hygiene, freshness and "squeaky" cleanliness - while keeping your skin soft, hydrated and not a bit dry? And this question takes on special relevance in the summer, when it is hot, dusty, and you want to take a shower every couple of hours!

Some people like it hot ... but don't!

Hot water dries the skin more and faster than moderately warm or cool water. This does not mean that you need to switch to ice douches, but reduce the temperature of the shower to physiological "warm" - this is the temperature of the water, slightly higher than your body temperature. Such a shower treats the skin of the body much more carefully and at the same time perfectly washes, performs all its functions.

Perfect shower gel formula

Naturalness + tenderness - the formula for the perfect shower gel. The synthetic components of shower gels, especially surfactants, dry the skin very much, and all kinds of additives like preservatives, "nuclear" fragrances and mineral oils only worsen the situation. Natural shower gels act much softer: natural surfactants practically do not dry out, and the product itself does not tighten or dehydrate the skin. Very often natural nourishing oils, extracts, moisturizers are included in natural gels, creams and foams, soaps - and as a result, such a product not only washes very gently, but also cares for the skin. There is an opinion that natural shower gels wash worse than synthetic ones, "without squeak", but in reality this very "squeak" is just not necessary for the skin, and even harmful. Natural gels cleanse the skin of impurities, exfoliate dead skin particles, but do not leave behind a dry "Sahara desert".

We also add that natural shower gels are not the same in their softness: some wash quite actively, while others - often in the form of a cream gel or a delicate soufflé, creamy gel - wash as carefully as possible. If your skin is prone to dryness, opt for the latter.

Water, only water. It is not at all necessary to lather yourself with gel or soap - even natural and mild - from head to toe on every shower trip. If you have a “dust-free” job, if you don't sow or plow, then often you just need a light refreshing shower that will wash away sweat and fatigue from you. And in this case, it is quite enough just water of average temperature. Washing with gel and washing "without anything" can be alternated day after day - and the skin will dry much less.

A must-have "dessert" for the skin

A moisturizer or body milk after a shower is about the same as applying conditioner after every shampoo. It seems to be not an obligatory item of the program, but at the same time it helps a lot to keep the skin soft and moisturized. If you do not have enough time for such luxuries as long application of the cream on the body after each shower, do it every other time, or apply the cream only to the driest parts of the body. It is also a good practice not to dwell on one cream, even if you really like it. For example, if you usually use moisturizing milk, then once a week you can smear with body oil after a shower, and once a week apply something with a lifting or nourishing effect to your skin.

Home SPA once a week.

If you "clean the feathers" as carefully as possible, it will be useful to arrange a day of home spa for your skin once a week: rub with a natural scrub (with sea salt and oils or mineral, for example, beldi soap is also suitable), perhaps even sit in a bath or sauna, and in the end, do self-massage with oil or nourishing cream. The skin will then be velvety like a peach!

Important! Be sure to consider your skin type when choosing a shower gel, other skin care products, and even a wash regimen. Anything that is suitable and even necessary for oily, dense skin (thorough cleansing, well-absorbed moisturizing creams, applying a scrub 2 times a week) will only harm dry and sensitive skin prone to flaking; such skin should be pampered with creamy shower products, nourishing treatments and massage with oils.

And even less obvious, but also important points that will help you avoid dry skin of the body:

  • Using a moisturizer after sunbathing in summer on vacation is mandatory.
  • Do not overdo it with body oil: it should be applied no more than 3 times a week and always on damp skin.
  • Watch your diet: sometimes a poor diet with a lack of vitamins and essential minerals is to blame for dry, sluggish skin, its unhealthy shade.
