How to use essential oils

Essential oils are concentrated liquids obtained from parts of plants: flowers, leaves, stems, bark and wood. Oil molecules protect plants from harmful microorganisms, maintain vitality, help restore damaged areas, and even scare away animals. It is essential oils that give all plants their magnificent aroma! Essential oils are used in aromatherapy, cosmetology, production.

According to the degree of intensity and resistance, all essential oils can be divided into: low-volatile, medium-volatile, highly volatile.

The effect of oils on humans has been scientifically proven. They affect the physiological and emotional state. The impact directly depends on the essential oil selected for aromatherapy and the method of its use.

BASIC RULES FOR USING ESSENTIAL OILS

Before you start using essential oils for any purpose, it is recommended that you familiarize yourself with some rules.

  1. Essential oils in their pure form cause severe skin irritation, therefore, they are never used separately if used for cosmetic purposes. The most competent way to use essential oil is to add it to the base oil (peach, coconut, jojoba, etc.), as well as to the cream, but only when you take into account that there is confidence that it is completely made from natural ingredients! In no case should you add essential oil to unfamiliar cosmetics, because oils penetrate the deepest layers of the skin, and, accordingly, can pull all the chemicals behind them.
  2. If you are using essential oil for the first time, be sure to make sure that there is no allergic reaction to it. Such a test is carried out for two days. Apply a couple of drops of oil on your wrist, monitor the skin reaction. Repeat the next day.
  3. An important point! Essential oils are not soluble in water. When added in its pure form, it remains to float with a film on the surface. This can lead to skin burns. Therefore, before adding oil to the bath, dissolve it in an emulsifier. Perfectly suitable: honey, cream, sour cream, milk, kefir or liquid soap. Add no more than 7 drops of essential oil to the selected base, transfer and pour into the bath.
  4. Aromolamp - the only way to use in which you can use essential oil in its pure form. Hot water is poured into the bowl, then approximately 5 drops of essential oil are added. The basic rule is that the water in the lamp should not boil. The use of oils in the lamp has a beneficial effect on the emotional state of a person. With the proper selection of aroma, you can overcome depression, improve your mood, tune into a creative mood and much more.
  5. With any method of using essential oils (especially one and the same!), You need to take a break so as not to become addictive, and not to develop an allergy. The ideal application scheme: three weeks of use, then a week of rest.
  6. Always start using aromatic oils with the minimum dosage, gradually increasing as necessary. Never exceed the dosage indicated in the instructions! If you add essential oil to the bath, sauna, bath for the first time, it is advisable not to carry out the procedure for more than five minutes. With regards to the aroma lamp: the maximum time for first use is 20 minutes. Be sure to pay attention to your well-being and feelings. If aromatherapy procedures were successful, you can gradually increase the time.
  7. Essential oils can be an excellent tool for flavoring a room. You can use aromas at any time of the day. However, you should pay attention that if you have chosen a tonic aroma, refuse to use it in the evening, and, conversely, when you need to be concentrated, refuse relaxing oils. A small piece of cotton can be used to spread the aroma in the room. Put on it a couple - three drops of oil, place it near you. In winter, when heating works, it will be an excellent option to drop a couple of drops on a hot battery, the aroma will instantly fill the room.
  8. With great care, use essential oils during pregnancy and epilepsy! Before use, be sure to discuss the details with a specialist, but rather refuse aromatherapy.
  9. On the days of aromatherapy sessions, drink as much fluid as possible. Drink at least 2 liters of clean water per day.
  10. Refuse to use essential oils if you are undergoing treatment for homeopathic medicines. Similar treatments and aromatherapy overwhelm each other.
  11. Eat, decide to try the oils as a food supplement, remember that they cannot be used on an empty stomach! An exception is the case when treatment is carried out on the basis of certain essential oils, which implies their ingestion on an empty stomach.
  12. When using oil for cosmetic purposes, do not add it to a jar of cream. The mixture should always be fresh, so add oil immediately before application, prepare the mixture in a separate container. In addition, it will not be superfluous to verify that a specific oil is suitable for you, otherwise the cream will have to be thrown away!
  13. Owners of very fair and sensitive skin should be extremely careful. Even if you did not find an allergy during the test, which is necessary to do, reduce the initial dosage by 2 times.
  14. Keep in mind that all citrus essential oils have a high degree of phototoxicity. They can not be used two hours before going out in the open sun and used for tanning, because You can get severe burns and contribute to skin pigmentation.
  15. The use of essential oils inside is made only for the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. Best suited: citrus oils, spices, peppermint and lemon balm oil, rosemary, geranium and chamomile.

Keep in mind that you must use the oils under the close supervision of a specialist, and only in a pre-diluted basis. For example, you can shift the required amount of essential oil with honey or milk, be sure to drink plenty of clean water.

WAYS OF USE OF ESSENTIAL OILS

  • INHALATIONS. Thanks to inhalations based on essential oils, you can get rid of many diseases of the respiratory system. During inhalation, oils are applied to the reflexogenic points of the nose, massaging them. Regular use of aromatic oils helps to eliminate stagnant and inflammatory reactions.
  • AROMACURITES. They are also called aroma lamps. A little hot water is poured into the bowl, then about five drops of oil are added. A lit candle is installed inside the lamp, from the flame of which, water and oil slowly heat up and the aroma slowly spreads around the room.

Similar aromatherapy sessions are conducted behind closed doors and windows.

  • BATH. As you know, natural essential oils have the ability to penetrate into the deepest layers of the skin, exerting a strong influence on all organs. You should be very careful about the quality of the oils used! Purchase only completely natural products so as not to harm your body.

Before taking water procedures, it is necessary to dissolve no more than 7 drops of essential oil in any emulsifier (honey, milk, cream, liquid soap, bath foam, etc.), mix well and pour into water, the temperature of which can be hot, warm or cool. The time for taking a bath should last no more than half an hour, and for the first procedures, 5 to 10 minutes is enough. Please note that you need to increase the time gradually.

You can also make separate baths for hands or feet. In the latter case, the amount of oil should be reduced to 3 drops.

  • COMPRESSIONS. Given the fact that the active substances of essential oils penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin, compresses with oils are a very effective anti-inflammatory and analgesic.

To prepare them, use warm water with a few drops of essential oil. Take a cotton cloth, soak in water with oil, wring it out a little, put the tissue in the area of the organ over which the treatment is to be performed. The duration of the procedure is from 5 minutes to half an hour.

  • GROWING. The rubbing method is great for reducing muscle pain and connective tissue.

To rub, you need a good massage oil. A small amount of essential oil is added to it. The resulting mixture is rubbed by active movements into sore spots. The procedure is repeated daily until the pain subsides completely.

  • MASSAGE. During massage, as well as during rubbing, the substances of essential oils penetrate deep into the skin and give a chic result for healing the whole body. During massage sessions, inhalation of the respiratory system, cleansing of the liver and intestines, and calming of the nervous system occur.

For massage, you can use vegetable or olive oil (10 g). The required number of drops of essential oil is added to it. The mixture is well mixed, after which massage is done according to an individually selected technique.

The most important point when using essential oils for healing purposes is the strict control of a specialist and compliance with the recommended doses. Otherwise, aromatic oils may have the opposite effect on the body. An overdose of them is very dangerous to health!
