Lips "From Like a Magazine" natural care

The shape and fullness of the lips is a matter of momentary fashion and genes, but the main advantages of healthy, beautiful lips - smoothness, softness and elasticity - are completely universal. Lipstick is always better on well-groomed lips, but even without any make-up, they look great and do not need “retouching” using make-up. Therefore, investing energy and time in lip care is undoubtedly worthwhile, although if you use natural cosmetics, this care will not be so laborious and problematic at all. A few basic tools and a couple of useful recipes for special occasions - that's all troubles.

Lip balm

The most important basic lip care product is undoubtedly lip balm. Normal, without any undertakings and glamorous gloss, the sole purpose of which is to soften, nourish and smooth lips, protect them from any draining effects, including makeup, wind-snow-rain, drinking coffee in the cold, ultraviolet and so on. Ideally, if the base lip balm is as neutral as possible, has powerful nutritional properties, but is not too heavy and oily, that is, it will absorb well on the lips without forming an unpleasant film.

Convenient option: two basic lip balms - one “home”, fatter and more nutritious, for applying, for example, at night, the second “hiking”, lighter, to soften the lips on the go. The first can be in any form, but the second should ideally be in the form of a stick-lipstick so that you do not have to get your hands dirty, and the balm could be applied with one movement of the hand.

As an additional lip balm, a more special tool can act, for example, a cooling, tonic or warming balm. Lip balm instead of lipstick? It is quite realistic if you have a remedy with a reddish or pinkish tint: such a balm at the same time softens and nourishes your lips - and makes them a little brighter.

The basis of natural lip balms are usually solid oils (butter). Butter №1 for lip balms is shea butter (shea butter), cocoa butter is in second place, but others may also occur. The remaining components vary: it can be other vegetable oils, as a rule, lighter, liquid, wax, vitamins, plant extracts, pigment - if we are talking about tinted balms.

All additional components are important: it is they who can determine the properties for which you love your lip balm, but most importantly, the base butter is most important in the composition. Therefore, pure shea butter or cocoa butter can perfectly act as a lip balm. You can also experiment: for example, dripping a little jojoba oil in a shea - and you will get a softer creamy balm.

Are lip scrubs needed?

Oddly enough, lip scrubs are most often needed after the lips have been harmed. If the skin on the lips is dry and chapped, it becomes rough, uneven, the scrub will be the first step to return the lips to tenderness and smoothness. Such a return occurs in two stages:

  1. first, using a scrub, exfoliate dead skin cells,
  2. then apply a rich nourishing balm to your lips.

If the lips look good (and that’s exactly what they usually look like, if you constantly nourish, protect and soften them with natural means), then a scrub is not needed: the skin of the lips is very thin and delicate, so she doesn’t need too much aggression, even with natural means need it.

Sugar Scrub lips with his own hands

Of course, it’s easier to buy a lip scrub by trusting professionals, but if this option is not available to you for some reason, or if you want to experiment, it is quite possible to make a simple scrub with your own hands.

  • Cane sugar
  • Shea Butter
  • Sweet Almond Oil
  • Lavender essential oil

Mix 1 teaspoon of cane sugar (good quality, not too large: if in doubt, rub a pinch of sugar between your fingers - its grains should not scratch the skin, be too coarse), 1 teaspoon of slightly softened shea butter, 0.5 teaspoon of oil sweet almonds and 1-2 drops of lavender essential oil. Apply the resulting natural scrub to cleansed lip skin (slightly moist) and massage for 1-2 minutes. Done! After this, apply balm or lip cream.

  • There is one simple but important rule in removing makeup from the lips: use the same tool that you use to remove makeup from the eyelids.
  • When applying a face mask, be careful and take into account the recommendations, some masks are recommended to be applied to the lips (for example, alginate or nourishing), while others, on the contrary, are absolutely not worth it (cleansing, with clay).
