CheckoutNot to sos: why basic care is most important
The iron rule of healthy skin and beautiful hair can be expressed in a sore but no less truthful phrase: "It's smarter not to cure a problem, but to prevent it." In the world of diseases, prevention and a healthy lifestyle are such a warning, and in the world of beauty, this role is played by basic care - daily, painstaking, routine. Which, unfortunately, we often neglect - and inevitably pay for it with unpleasant consequences. Let's figure out why basic skin and hair care is most important.
Why are SOS products - regenerating and deeply toning - the most expensive?
Because a person who "killed" his hair or skin is ready to pay any money to restore his appearance at least some semblance of health. And powerful, active ingredients in cosmetics, really capable of affecting skin cells, stimulating hair growth, returning moisture to the skin, are really the most expensive and valuable in the cosmetic industry. Hence, there is a serious price, and complex application schemes, and an indefinite result (maybe it will work, or maybe not).
Cosmetics for basic routine care, on the contrary, are inexpensive, easy to use and require almost no additional effort: washed, smeared with this and that - and you're done, you can run on about your business. Why? Because in the absence of serious negative factors (illness, severe stress, travel, hormonal changes, many days of lack of sleep), healthy skin and the same healthy hair need very little to maintain a normal state: proper cleansing, nutrition, moisturizing and moderate protection. All!
But the situation changes in the most dramatic way, if the skin or hair is damaged, it needs to be restored! For example, seriously dehydrated skin cannot be returned to its previous state with the help of a regular cream or moisturizing lotion, cells of the epidermis, "burned" by ultraviolet light, simply die off, and you will need more than one month and not one jar of a powerful product to restore the skin, but a damaged hair shaft in general cannot be fully restored - you can only slightly improve its condition and strengthen the roots so that hair grows back healthy and beautiful.
If you don’t want to fund all beauty salons within a radius of five kilometers from your home and spend a lot of money every month buying expensive, powerful cosmetics, invest time and energy in basic routine care. Moreover, it includes a surprisingly short list of necessary procedures and the necessary cosmetics.
The keys to basic care
Skin on the face
Choose care products for your skin type, but remember that some skin needs are relevant for absolutely everyone:
- Cleansing. Daily wash, make-up remover (effective but not drying) and something extra 1-2 times a week, such as a light peel with fruit acids or glycolic acid. Don't overdo it: Over-cleansing is a common cause of skin dehydration.
- Care. First of all, hydration - everyone needs it. If you don't have any specific concerns, choose a moisturizer for your skin type and remember to use it twice a day. As an option: daytime moisturizing, evening - with nutritional functions.
- Protection. From ultraviolet radiation (sunscreen, mineral powder), from changes in moisture (moisturizing day cream or serum), from cold, wind, smog (protective day cream or makeup primer). Nothing supernatural, basic protection for the season and circumstances.
Plus, to adjust the PH level and moisturize, you will definitely need hydrolat, a facial toner.

Body skin
When it comes to the skin of the body, we are always faced with a dilemma: how to carry out all the hygiene procedures and at the same time not dry out the skin, especially if it is summer outside and we do not get out of the shower?
- Cleansing. Get in the habit of buying a good soft gel for your body that won't dry out your skin. At this stage, many people make the mistake of washing with harsh soaps or sulfate gels - and get dry, flaky skin. Plus a mild intimate hygiene product.
- Daily hydration. Special foot creams, oil for dry areas, super nourishing hand creams are all optional, and total body hydration is a routine, daily and unforgiving. Just train yourself every day after an evening shower to methodically and energetically apply the most common moisturizer, fluid or lotion to the body. We bet 99% of your body skin problems will simply disappear after a week of such care?
- UV protection - if it's summer outside and you're not a fan of long sleeves, wide-brimmed hats and raised collars. There is nothing worse - seriously, nothing at all! - than skin "toasted" by the sun.
- You can add a scrub 1-2 times a week to your grooming routine, but if you shower every day, this is not such a necessary measure.
Hair

In the case of hair, there is one underwater iceberg that not a single Titanic sank. The most important thing in hair care is not to harm. Hair dye, hot iron, hairdryer or curling iron, the wrong comb, or a strict diet. If you dye your hair sparingly or do not dye it at all, style your hair with a cool hairdryer, do not comb it, treat it gently and carefully, this is about 80% of success. And the remaining 20% is competent regular care:
- Cleansing. The main rule: it is better to wash your hair more often, but with a mild, natural shampoo than rarely, but using more aggressive shampoos. Output? Wash your hair with a good gentle shampoo (which must be selected strictly according to the type of scalp!) As it gets dirty and do not be tempted by "draconian" shampoos, after which your hair squeaks like rubbed parquet.
- Protection. Protection against moisture loss, moisture changes, sunlight and other things - and all this gives a good conditioner that will envelop the hair along the length of an invisible protective film, simplify combing and protect it from all negative factors and, most importantly, dryness. Plus, it will obviously not be superfluous to use an indelible solution for the ends, because dryness and split hair ends are a 100% universal problem that is relevant for everyone. By the way, it may well be oil (broccoli, coconut, jojoba).
The commandment "Do no harm" is another common rule that is more than relevant in matters of care. There are no numbers of those who, in panic, turn to SOS products precisely because they have gone too far with scrubs and peels, "burned" their hair with dye, dried out their skin with cleansing or anti-acne products, in general, have hurt themselves. Be careful when buying cosmetics, choose products from trusted brands that are famous for their quality, follow the recommendations of manufacturers, do not go to the extreme of excessive care.
