Revealing the secrets of using shea butter

Earthly nature is very rich and offers us everything we need for a fulfilling and happy life. If only we could still learn to accept these gifts, and dispose of them wisely - but that is another question. Using the gifts of nature, we can provide ourselves with wise and nutritious nutrition, as well as remain young, healthy and beautiful for a long time. Vivid examples of such necessary and useful gifts of nature are essential oils of fruits, nuts, plants and even trees. We will talk about one such tree, shea, or shea, today, more precisely, about shea essential oil and how it can be used for the face, hair and body.

Shea butter, or shea butter, is its second name, a wonderful gift from nature for human beauty and health. This oil is extracted from the seeds of a unique African tree - such trees do not grow on other continents.

The shea tree lives for a long time - almost 300 years, and the healing properties of its fruits have long been used by African peoples. This tree is very strong - it has a thick bark, and it is always alive and green - new leaves immediately grow in the place of falling leaves.

Beneficial composition for the skin

Shea butter is dense, has a light creamy hue, and consists mainly of triglycerides - substances formed by fatty acids - oleic, stearic, palmitic

Also, the healing composition of shea butter includes unsaponifiable fats, represented by caristerols - the active substances of the shea fruit seed pulp. Unsaponifiables are substances that are found mainly in plants, and do not interact with alkalis, like fatty acids.

Shea butter also contains small amounts of linoleic, linolenic, myristic acid, carbohydrates and proteins.

It is the union of fatty acids and unsaponifiable fats that makes shea butter so popular in cosmetology. Even 70 years ago, scientists noticed that African peoples who use shea butter for their skin practically do not know what skin diseases are, and their skin remains remarkably elastic and smooth for a long time.

What are the properties?

Shea butter has been used in cosmetology for over 20 years, and the cosmetics it contains are the most competitive in today's market.

Shea butter has strong regenerating properties and protects the skin from the sun's rays, which is why in Africa it has always been rubbed with small children and also used for adults.

The oil is obtained only by cold pressing: it turns out to be very thick, heterogeneous, white or slightly creamy, with a light nutty aroma. It becomes liquid at body temperature - already at 35 ° C, so it is easy to use as a massage - it spreads over the skin and is quickly absorbed.

The anti-inflammatory properties of shea butter make it possible to use it to treat skin problems - acne, ulcers, dermatitis, as well as rub it into sore joints and muscles, and relieve swelling.

Cosmetologists call shea butter transport oil, due to its ability to penetrate deeply into the skin and deliver various useful components of cosmetic products to its layers. These components are easily combined with the oil, and when they get into the skin, they are just as easily and quickly released from it. It is widely used in the care of lips, face skin, hair, and is part of sunscreen cosmetics and tanning cosmetics.

Thanks to the regenerating properties of unsaponifiable fats, the oil stimulates collagen synthesis and is recommended for the care of mature and aging skin. The protective properties of the oil are due to triglycerides: the barrier functions of the skin are enhanced when it is applied.

Application in cosmetology

If you apply shea butter regularly as an independent remedy, your complexion will improve, your skin texture will become denser, tone will increase, the depth of wrinkles will decrease and your skin will become elastic. Therefore, shea butter is often included in anti-aging cosmetics.

Pregnant women are advised to use it to prevent stretch marks on their skin.

The protective properties of the oil are also expressed in its moisturizing effect. An hour after its application, the maximum moisturizing and protective effect is achieved, which lasts for 8 hours, protecting the skin from the effects of many aggressive external factors. In addition, shea butter effectively removes dryness and irritation of the skin, saturates it with vitamins and prevents early aging.

How to apply at home

At home, you can use shea butter in a variety of ways. It can be applied to the entire face, like a mask, and even to the area around the eyes, and after 30-35 minutes, just wash your face with lukewarm water.

You can melt the butter directly in your hands, or rub a small piece over your face - it will melt and be absorbed into the skin. Lubricate your skin with shea butter in summer and winter, when you are in the sun, or outdoors in cold and windy weather, and do not limit yourself to your face and neck - apply shea butter to all exposed areas of your body.

You can mix shea butter with other oils by melting it in a water bath first. It also makes it easy to make homemade creams and masks.
