CheckoutSecrets of using cuticle oil at home
Hand care is important at any age, especially for women. It is not necessary to do a manicure in expensive salons, but the hands, nails and cuticles should be in order: they, in a sense, recognize a true lady.
Purchased hand creams are often not enough, and the cuticle suffers most of all in women: from hot chlorinated water, detergents and other household chemicals - we have to use all this every day on the farm.
Special products, including oils, help to maintain the health and beauty of the skin of the hands, nails and cuticles. Why are cuticle oils good and why should you use them?
Why and what cuticle oil at home?
Most women do not really "notice" the cuticle until it comes to problems: the thin skin that protects the nail plate from pathogenic microbes and other influences begins to dry out and become inflamed.
Often, the cuticle dries up so that it becomes prickly, clings to clothing and causes a lot of inconvenience. Burrs are formed - hard scraps of exfoliated cuticles, and many "smart girls" simply tear them off "so as not to interfere", opening the way for diseases like panaritium - the tip of a finger becomes inflamed, paronychia - the cuticle, fungi, etc. become inflamed.
Edged manicure is called classic, but in developed countries it has long become the past of nail service. We are still doing it, and cutting the cuticle "starts" the process of its growth, and the cut sites almost inevitably dry out.
Cuticle oils not only help to maintain the natural protective barrier, but also soften, nourish and strengthen the skin and nails; prevent burrs from forming, relieve incipient inflammation - including after a trim manicure, accelerate nail growth and have a regenerating effect.
What oils to choose for home care
It is easier to use ready-made cuticle oils, and they work effectively, but instead of them (or in addition), you can use compositions prepared yourself.
The base ones are combined with essential oils in certain proportions - usually 5-9 drops per 1 tablespoon, and stored in clean glass bottles. You need to mix the ingredients with natural wood, ceramic or glass sticks.
What oils to choose for the cuticle?
There are many of them - both basic and ethereal; in principle, almost any oils are suitable, however, an allergic reaction must be excluded, therefore the resulting formulations must be tested.

- Simple option - castor oil: activates nail growth, nourishes and moisturizes the cuticle; is inexpensive.
- Olive and almond oils are rich in PUFAs and useful minerals, strengthen the nail plate and nourish it with oxygen, quickly heal damage.
- Burdock oil is considered to be even richer in vitamin and mineral composition. It helps even with running cuticles and nails, but you should not get carried away: with an overdose and frequent use, redness may appear. The same - with wheat germ oil, rich in antioxidants, but it is generally not recommended to use it "pure", but only in mixtures.
- Jojoba oil removes redness, perfectly moisturizes, relieves inflammation, soothes and restores the epidermis; it is also recommended not to use it separately.
- But peach cuticle oil in its pure form can be used every day: it is light and delicate, perfectly absorbed, prevents the skin from drying out and protects from outside influences.
- PUFA-rich coconut oil is also suggested to be added to oil mixtures, but for a different reason: it is light and softens the action of other components. It also works well "alone", healing damage and, to some extent, eliminating fungi. It penetrates well into the skin and is absorbed quickly, moisturizes, softens, revitalizes even very dull nails; convenient to use - no traces remain.
- Grape seed oil - "first aid" and fast food for cuticles and nails. It is good to apply before a manicure: the skin quickly becomes soft and easy to work with.
- "Urgent Helper" - argan oil: absorbed quickly and throughout the entire nail plate, quickly regenerates the skin and heals dry, damaged cuticles.
- Apricot, sesame, avocado, etc. oils are also good for the cuticle.
Essential oils (esters) for the cuticle are used only in mixtures. They have a pronounced therapeutic effect on the cuticle and the nail plate, each working in its own way. The best are:
- tea tree and eucalyptus oil - antiseptic properties, heals damage;
- thyme - softens, moisturizes, gives elasticity;
- pine oil - antiseptic, oxygenates, promotes rapid regeneration;
- rosemary oil - destroys bacteria, relieves irritation and flaking, strengthens the cuticle;
- lavender oil - softens, soothes, eliminates dryness and inflammation;
- lemon oil - perfectly cleanses;
- grapefruit - quickly restores the epithelium, improves the appearance.
All essential oils have nourishing properties for the cuticle: they are truly fabulous in nutrients. It is good to add pharmacy vitamin E to the mixtures.
