Summer tanning and skin care rules

The wonderful summer season gives us a lot of sun and sea holidays, adventure and travel. I would like to wear the best favorite outfits that emphasize our beauty and, of course, an even tan, forget about the past experience of unsuccessful sunbathing on the beach and flaky skin. Our tips can help you with this.

So we choose the oil for tanning and consider the rules for sunbathing.

Carry a lightweight scarf with you

Carry a light shawl with which you can cover your shoulders and head if you are in the sun during especially dangerous times of solar activity (from 11 to 16:00, and especially from 12 to 15:00). It can decorate your handbag if you knit it beautifully on a strap and will always be at hand when needed.

Refresh your skin with tonics

Refreshing your skin with tonic is simple. 1 liter of boiled water should be kept for 1 day at room temperature, then strain from the sediment and add essential oils.

  • If you want a refreshing tonic, add 6-8 drops of tropical verbena (litsey kubeba) to the water. It has a pleasant aroma (slightly citrusy), has tonic and anti-fungal properties, reduces perspiration, relieves fatigue, raises women's energies and cheers. You can use this tonic throughout the day (litsei cubeba oil has no phototoxic effect).
  • if you want your tonic to have pronounced anti-inflammatory properties - add 4-5 drops of tea tree oil (Manuka), 2 drops of verbena to the water. This tonic is best used in the morning or evening.
  • if you have severe acne, then: add 2 drops of ginger essential oil, 4-5 drops of tea tree oil (Manuka), 2 drops of verbena to the water. We would recommend you to use this tonic in the morning or in the evening, 1.5-2 hours before sun exposure (ginger oil has a slight phototoxic effect).

Facial oil care

For facial skin care, we would recommend you:

  • Monoi de Tahiti oil. This oil is suitable for all skin types (even sensitive), it is light enough (does not overload the skin). This oil (based on unrefined coconut oil) has an amazingly pleasant aroma of the Monoi flower (Tiare, Lilawadi - in the east it is called differently). It moisturizes the skin well, helps prevent flaking and drying out of the skin.
  • Avocado oil. Many beauticians claim that they have not yet found an oil for facial skin care better than Avocado oil. The sun's rays are too stressful for our skin. Add 2-3 drops of lavender oil and exotic verbena (litsey cubeba) to avocado oil (5-10 ml). You will receive wonderful care and anti-stress program for your skin.
  • If you often experience temperature fluctuations (for example, you work in an air-conditioned room, and when you go out into the streets you get a “heat stroke” of hot air several times a day), then Cocoa butter is for you. It is also good to use it for rosacea.

General rule of thumb for using face oils in the summer! During this period of the year, we do not recommend applying pure oils or mixtures of base oils and essential oils to the face skin during the day !!! Apply oils before bedtime (1.5-2 hours before bedtime) and 10-15 minutes after application, remove excess by blotting your face with a dry napkin.

Sunbathe safely and properly

You can get a beautiful tan if you tan safely and correctly:

  • sunbathe at a safe time (from 7-00 to 11-00 and after 16-00 to 19-00). Remember that in cloudy weather and light breezes, you also sunbathe. Moreover, in such weather it is easier to "burn out".
  • use sun protection at least on those areas of the skin where it is thinnest (neck, nose).
  • if you wish to sunbathe safely and have a beautiful, even, long-lasting bronze-colored tan, we recommend that you use coconut oil (unrefined or refined) as your tanning oil.

It is especially good to add a few drops of bitter orange essential oil to it.

After sunbathing and showering, we recommend that you moisturize your skin by applying shea butter mixed with essential oils of ginger and bitter orange. Not only will you consolidate your tan, you will also moisturize your skin by tightening up enlarged pores and reducing redness. Let the mixture soak and stay outside for at least an hour.

  • if you go to the sea and want not only to have a good rest on the shore and get a beautiful tan, but also to attract the attention of the opposite sex and turn the heads of men - add a little aphrodesiacs to your tanning oil.

Refined coconut + 2-3 drops of ylang-ylang + 2-3 drops of bitter orange.

Or: refined coconut + 2-3 drops of exotic verbena (litsey cubeba) + 2-3 drops of ylang-ylang oil.

Exfoliate dead skin particles

Exfoliate the keratinized particles of your skin, then the new tan will lie flat. Don't do this right after returning from the beach (your skin is too sensitive at this time). You can use a coffee scrub with geranium essential oil. This mixture will also help you tighten your skin.

Safe essential oils for summer use

Essential oils have a variety of health benefits. Each essential oil has its own cosmetic effect. The addition of essential oils to cosmetic blends with organic base oils can significantly enhance their effect. However, the use of essential oils has a number of caveats.

Firstly, the first rule of using essential oils in cosmetology, they are never applied to the body in their pure form. Essential body oils can only be used in combination with organic base oils.

Secondly, it is important to know that in summer, when exposed to direct sunlight, essential oils can have two properties:

Essential oils with a phototoxic effect. Some essential oils are not recommended for use in summer, especially during sunbathing, as they have a phototoxic effect (increase the skin's perception of sun exposure).

Essential oils, safe to use, without phototoxic effect. These are essential oils that are safe to use in the summer.

Below is a list of essential oils that you can safely use in summer and while sunbathing in mixtures with fatty oils.

Oils that you can use in summer mixtures (not phototoxic and not irritating to the skin):

  • bitter orange oil
  • ylang-ylang oil
  • oil of litsea cubeba (verbena tropical, exotic)
  • geranium oil

Oils, mixtures with which it is better to use in the morning, in the evening or 1.5-2 hours before sun exposure (with a slight phototoxic effect):

  • ginger oil
  • cinnamon oil

We recommend that you only add oils to the mixture that do not have this effect and that will help you have healthy skin and a beautiful tan in the summer. And remember that your skin is unique.
