Description: Pacific herring is an important species because it consumes zooplankton and other small forage, and in turn becomes a signficiant food source for birds, large fish, and marine mammals. Herring spawn annually in specific spawning areas, and attach their eggs to sumbmerged aquatic vegetation, like eelgrass and macroalgae. Some herring populations appear to be declining.

Consistency: Typical and Characteristic of Marine Oils.

Aromatic Description: Carries a pungent, characteristic aroma.

Common Uses: Herring Oil - Crude is an omega-3 fish oil. This oil is often used in the bait and scent industry as well as in pet and agricultural applications. Herring oil is a common raw material found in various animal feed and supplements and is an important part of the diet fed to farm-raised salmon. 

Shelf Life: Users can expect a shelf life of 2 year with proper storage conditions (cool, out of direct sunlight). Refrigeration after opening is recommended.
